Peter Malkin was born in British Palestine. His family returned to Poland in the 1930s to live among relatives but left again shortly before the German invasion of the country in 1939. His sister, her three children and other relatives were unable to obtain permits and stayed behind. Malkin joined the Haganah, the Jewish underground at the age of fourteen. His interest in art also developed early; they lived in the port of Haifa where he painted portraits, ships and landscapes. He was wounded on the Syrian front in 1948 and was taken out of active service. He painted in his spare time, wrote one-act plays for the troops and even acted in a few of them. He joined the Mossad in 1950, posing as an artist and using his knowledge of costumes and acting to help him in his underground work with Mossad. He painted wherever he was situated and was forced to leave his works when he was moved on to another country.

Malkin has been described by critics as an artist who follows no contemporary trend but does haunting and moving portraits and has a fine sense of color. He has had exhibitions in Berlin, London, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Hamburg and Tokyo. He also writes poetry and does stand-up comedy routines at the homes of friends. As a spy, his most important venture was the capture of Adolf Eichmann in Argentina.
