| Philip Menard was born in Sacramento, CA on May 21, 1907. A self-taught artist, Menard began drawing at age three and painting at age twelve. During the 1920s he lived in Oakland and in 1926-30 in Seattle, WA. In 1955 he was hired as museum attendant at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento and lived there until his death on Oct. 11, 1994.
