Quentin McChristy (from artist supplied vita)

Born :  January 24, 1921, Cushing, Oklahoma. Died: November 19, 1992

Education : Graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.A. in Art in 1950; Cincinati Art Academy.

Service : Southwest Pacific for 30 months; earned Southwest Pacific Ribbon, battle stars, and Purple Heart.

Teachers : Doel Reed; Arthur Helwig; Ralston Crawford.

Experience : Art Director Ft Worth Children's Museum; Owned and ran small commerical gallery; Free lance artist in St. Louis; taught art and architecture students drawing skills at Oklahoma State University.

Holdings : Philbrook Art Museum; Joslyn Museum; Art Department of Oklahoma State University; Ft. Worth Children's Museum

Commissions : Mural on Wesley Foundation Methodist Church in Stillwater, OK; Scientific murals for Children's Museum in Ft. Worth; Decorative designs for outside glassware for Bartlett-Collins in Oklahoma.

Prizes and Awards : Purchase at Philbrook 1947; Purchase at Joslyn 1950; 2nd at Oklahoma Art Association in 1948; 3rd at Philbrook in 1948; Honorable Mention at Oklahoma Art Association 1948; Honorable mention at Mulvane Art Museum 1948; Honorable Mention 57th Annual Western Art in Denver 1951; Honorable Mention Artist Guild in St. Louis 1954; Honorable Mention at Citizen Gas & Coke company in Indianapolis 1957.
