This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Raul Jose Mina-Mora was born in Santa Ana, El Salvador on March 13, 1914, the son of a wealthy coffee plantation owner. Minamora came to San Francisco in 1924 and studied at the California School of Fine Arts (San Francisco). He continued at the Art Students League in NYC and in Austria under Hart. He then returned to San Francisco where he was active as a commercial artist until 1948. He then settled on Long Island, NY. His illustrations appeared in Times, Fortune, Collier and other national magazines. Mina-Mora began painting fine art in the late 1930s and in the late 1960s retired from commercial art. He died on Long Island on May 31, 1996.

Member: Audubon Painters; Allied American Artists; Salmagundi Club.

Exh: Brooklyn Museum, 1971, 1976; National Arts Club (New York City), 1972 (silver medal); American Artists Professional League, 1975 (1st prize); Metropolitan Museum, 1977; National Academy of Design, 1976.
