| Robert B. Moir 1917-1981
A sculptor, painter and teacher, he was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 7, 1917. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Columbia University, New York University and the Art Students League. He maintained his studio in New York City until 1980.
He worked and exhibited at the Honolulu Academy of Art. and the Rittenhouse-Savoy in Philadelphia, and the WPA.
Moir exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1940-41 and 1948. He exhibited the Whitney Museum in New York 1951-56.
In 1951-56 Moir exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in exhibitions call “Annual Exhibition of American Sculptors.” along with many prominent sculptors, including Alexander Archipenko, Alexander Calder, Chaim Gross, Milton Hebald, Paul Manship, and Harry Rosin. He had a one man show at the Sculptor's Guild in 1951 at Lever House in New York.
Moir was a member of New Sculpture Group, and the Sculptor's Guild. |
