Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1947, Robert Montoya spent the first thirteen years of his life on the campus of the Santa Fe Indian School where his parents were teachers.
Soe Khuwa Pin, Montoya''s Tewa name, means Fog Mountain, allying him with things of the imagination and spirit. His artwork is a changing blend of contemporary and traditional Indian art styles and draws from the sources of pueblo life, religious symbols, pictographs, and the artist's imagination.
