|  From a gypsy family of Catalan, he was orphaned as a child when a flood wiped out the encampment where he was living. He was adopted by a doctor who encouraged his art talent. His paintings are composed of shapes or blobs resembling fruits or body parts clustered in sections of the canvas. |
