| A painter of moody, urban landscapes, Stephen Magsig was born in
Toledo, Ohio and settled with his artist wife, Janet Hamrick, in
Ferndale, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Although he began as an
abstract painter, much of his mature work is highly realistic.
This transformation occurred when he began photographing industrial
buildings in Detroit in 1987, and became increasingly focused on
their architectural details. However, he says of his paintings
that he is not trying (showing 500 of 1135 characters). |
