| | Born in Birkelse, Denmark on April 19, 1889. Madsen began his art studies in Denmark and continued at the AIC. He was active in Kenosha, WI before settling in Los Angeles in 1925. He also designed furniture and tapestries while head of the La Brea Studio of Arts & Crafts in 1928.
