Wadie El Mahdy (1921).
Born in Cairo, Egypt, Mahdy studied under Ricardo Roberti at the
Italian Academy of Fine Arts, Cairo (1935-1939); and under Ahmed Sabry
and Bikar Huessen at the Egyptian Academy of Fine Arts, Cairo
(1940-1946).
His work is influenced by Vuillard, Bonnard and Soutine.
He came to Montreal, Quebec in 1966. Working in oil, his subjects
include still life, streetscapes and figures in an impressionistic
style.
