| William McNamara paints detailed watercolors using both abstract and realistic styles. McNamara's realistic views of the landscape around his home in the Arkansas Ozarks are made up of intricate abstract patterns and expressive strokes.
Hooked on painting as a child he received rigorous training as a university student. McNamara attended Centenary College in Shreveport and earned a master's degree in art from New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was required to take two years of drawing classes before working with color. After graduating McNamara traveled in Europe before returning to the United States to teach art.
McNamara has exhibited his works at the Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, Ohio and in 1987 and 1991 at the National Water Color Society shows in Brea, California where they won the Binney & Smith Award.
