| | Architect, painter. Born in Elizabethtown, IN in 1894. Newsom studied art at the Herron Art Institute in Indianapolis and the AIC. After graduating from the Armour Institute of Technology in Chicago in 1916, he settled in San Francisco where he was a practicing architect until 1941. After serving in WWII, he headed the architectural section of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Sacramento until his retirement in 1964. During his leisure he painted scenes of early California and Sacramento landmarks. Newsom died in Sacramento on April 20, 1978. Exh: Crocker Bank (Sacramento), 1981.
