Barbara Newton's colored
pencil still life paintings are intended to be expressions of
relationships: color to form, object to subject, shadow to light.
Through surface characteristics, color, and attention to detail, she
creates images that respectfully celebrate ordinary objects in an extra
ordinary manner. Her work has been described by others as
contemporary realism with an honest, spare elegance.
