The following information is from Robin Nuse, grand daughter of the artist.

Ellen Nuse was born on January 30, 1884, in Springfield Ohio, and died in October 1974. She was married to the painter Roy C. Nuse for 63 years, from 1911 until 1974.

She did watercolor paintings, primarily of still lifes, and also taught china painting at the Beechwood School for Women (now Beaver College) in Jenkintown, Pa.

She studied art at Oberlin College from 1905-1907, then transferred to the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1907, where she met Roy Nuse. She taught drawing and painting at Oberlin College from 1910-1912, until she became pregnant with her first child.

In 1915 she moved to Pennsylvania with her husband, Roy Nuse, and growing family, living in Jenkintown for one year, the on a farm in Wismer Pa. from 1917-25, and the rest of her
life in Rushland, Pa.

She had six children, and stopped painting after she started having her children, devoting the rest of her life to taking care of her family and encouraging her husband to continue to paint.
