This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Pueblo, CO on Sept. 7, 1885, a descendant of famous artist Thomas Nast. In 1890 the Nast family moved to California and settled in Alameda where they opened a photography studio. Artistically inclined at an early age, Ernest Henry acquired his interest in painting from his talented mother, Georgette. After graduating from Lowell High School in San Francisco, he studied painting at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute and medicine at the University of Michigan and Northwestern University. About 1915 he established a medical practice in San Francisco and, while working as a doctor, began painting and exhibiting locally. He listed many top painters among his friends and painting partners. His oils include still lifes, coastals, and landscapes. In 1948 Nast retired his medical practice and moved to Santa Cruz, CA where he remained until his death on Aug. 26, 1954. Member: American Physicians AA. Exh: Oakland Art Gallery, 1939; Society for Sanity in Art, 1930s and 1940s.
