| Born in Pueblo, CO on Sept. 7, 1885, a descendant of famous artist Thomas Nast. In 1890 the Nast family moved to California and settled in Alameda where they opened a photography studio. Artistically inclined at an early age, Ernest Henry acquired his interest in painting from his talented mother, Georgette. After graduating from Lowell High School in San Francisco, he studied painting at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute and medicine at the University of Michigan and Northwestern University.
