Ethel Marcum Pearce was born in Norfolk, VA on Feb. 16, 1901. Pearce was raised on Puget Sound. At age 18 she moved to Los AngelesA self-taught artist, she was a resident of San Francisco from the 1930s until shortly before her demise in El Dorado County, CA on Oct. 8, 1985. Her married name was Nerger. An Abstract Expressionist, her oeuvre includes 200 watercolors, pastels, and oils.
