| Hanne Lore Sutro Nepote was born in Heiburg, Germany in 1923. Due to Hitler and political unrest, Hanne immigrated to California in 1939 and settled in the San Francisco Bay area. She studied painting with Erle Loran, John Haley, and Margaret O’Hagan. While active in the local art scene, she met painter Alexander Nepote whom she married. The couple made many painting excursions into the Mother Lode country to paint the old mining camps.
