| Born in Piedmont, CA on Feb. 26, 1889. Newsom studied at the CCAC. His work was inspired by the area around Mt Diablo and the Monterey Peninsula. A lifelong resident of his native city, he died there on Sept. 17, 1944. His father Samuel and uncle J. Cather Newsom were architects of over 600 buildings in California including the Carson House in Eureka. Exh: Calif.
