This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Woodbridge, Connecticut on March 17, 1878, Newton was a pupil of Charles Hawthorne and Harry Leith-Ross.   In California she taught at the U.S. Public Health Hospital in Palo Alto in 1920-21 and studied at UC Santa Barbara in 1934-36.
She never married and died in Woodbridge on July 15, 1970.

Member: New Haven Paint & Clay Club; Laguna Beach AA; Santa Barbara AA.

Exh: Pasadena Art Inst., 1930; Calif. Statewide (Santa Cruz), 1930; Calif. State Fair, 1930s.
