The following, submitted by Joy Holland, is the text of the "Brooklyn Daily Eagle" obituary for Howard M. Nesmith, April 18, 1935:
R Howard Macomber Nesmith, portrait painter and one of the founders of the Art Students League and the Academy of Design, died Tuesday of a heart ailment at the home of a daughter, Mrs W. Banks here.
Born in Brooklyn in 18 (illegible) Mr Nesmith studied art at South Kensington, England and under Leon Bonnat in Paris. He exhibited at the Paris Salon. (showing 500 of 973 characters). |
