| The following was submitted by the artist's niece, Jean Nachorny Ledford: John Nachorny was born July 1, l908 in Poland. He was the youngest of 4 children. He had 2 sisters, Anna and Marie and 1 brother named Stefan. Stefan was my father, and of course, John was my uncle. The parents and all 4 children emmigrated to the U.S. from Poland aboard the S.S. Maine and arrived in Baltimore, Maryland - at the time, John was 5 years old. The family lived in Cleveland, Ohio.
John took up painting and lived in several cities including the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana, Chicago, Illinois, Poughkeepsie, New York, and European countries. He never married and died October 13, 1989 of leukemia at age 81.
