Karl Nolde (1902-1994)
Born in the epicenter of German Expressionism of Leipzig in 1902, Karl Nolde attended the venerable Art Academy of Leipzig – the elite institution which has produced such greats as Max Beckmann and continues to stand at the vanguard of contemporary art. Nolde thrived in the rigorous intellectual environment of the 1920s and was a prominent member of several artists’ groups, such as the ASSO.
