| | Born in Nashua, NH on Feb. 19, 1912. At UC Berkeley Nelson earned her M.A. degree and a traveling scholarship. Returning to Berkeley in 1938, she taught design at UC for 30 years. A spinster, she died there on Feb. 12, 1991.
