Born in New York City, Marilyn Newmark is a sculptor of horses, including race horses and equestrian pieces. She is known for her abiltiy to capture detail. "Every muscle and tendon is exactly delineated..." (Sternberg 141). In 1971, she won the Anna Hyatt Huntington Award, and in 1972, her equestrian sculpture, "Hacking Home", was selected as the Madison Square Garden trophy.
Newmark knows horses first hand because she was raised in the horse country of Long Island and continues to keep (showing 500 of 1359 characters). |
