| | Born in Russia on Dec. 6, 1896. Due to the Russian Revolution, Nedashkovsky decamped to Japan with artist Sergey Scherbakoff and arrived in San Francisco in 1922. Art critic Ray Boynton said of his work, “A real revelation. There is a lavishness of form and color, and the whole effect is lyrical.” Ill with tuberculosis, "Niko" Nedashkovksy died in San Francisco on Jan. 2, 1924 at age 27.
