This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Rudy Nappi (b. 1923)

Rudy Nappi was the principal cover artist for the US Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew series in the 1950s through to the late 1970s.  His portrayals of the three main characters was regarded as most recognizable.  In 1968, six out of 8 titles that they published, MacDonald took over the reigns.  These six publications dust jackets featured Nappi’s work.

Nappi drew the covers for six other original series in 1980 in the volumes: 50, 51, 53-56. The softcover Hady Boys Adventure Activity Book and the revised edition of The Hardy Boys Detective Handbook show Nappi’s handiwork.
Nappi also created covers for the collectible puzzle books.

Starting with Sampson Low, who used 14 of his cover illustration, a large portion of Nappi’s portfolio was employed by British publishers.
