| Born in Montana on Oct. 13, 1870. While a living in San Francisco in the 1890s, Newman studied at the Mark Hopkins Art Institute. Active in the local art scene, she exhibited portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. A spinster, she died in Santa Cruz, CA on Aug. 9, 1931.
