Warren Newcombe was born in Waltham, Massachusetts in 1894. He
studied, worked and exhibited as a painter and set designer in the
United States, though a substantial Parisian influence is evident
throughout his work.
Newcombe studied under Joseph DeCamp at the
Boston Normal Art School in 1914. He went on to teach drawing in
Massachusetts before moving to New York in 1918 where he supported
himself as a commercial artist and portraitist.
