| Born in San Francisco, CA on Dec. 4, 1891. Alice studied at the CSFA under Stackpole and Cummings. On a scholarship she further studied at the ASL in NYC and in Paris under Bourdelle and Emil Othon-Friesz. After her marriage to artist Peter Van Valkenburgh in 1930, she settled in Piedmont, CA where she resided until her demise on Aug. 30, 1984. Her work includes portraits and landscapes in oil as well as bronze and terra cotta sculptures. Exh: Salon d'Automne (Paris), 1925; Oakland Art Galle (showing 500 of 708 characters). |
