Andrew O'Connor (1874-1941)
Developing a vigorous and realistic style of sculpture, Irish-American artist Andrew O'Connor was born in Massachusetts but returned to Ireland in his later years. He was the son of Classsical-style sculptor Andrew O'Connor, Sr. (1846-1924), and in New York City became a studio assistant to Daniel Chester French.
From 1894 to 1898, he was in London, where he worked in the studio of John Singer Sargent, and posed for one of the figures in Sar (showing 500 of 2264 characters). |
