This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Long Island, NY on June 10, 1905. Owens was a resident of Los Angeles in the 1930s and active on the Federal Art Project. The latter part of his life was spent on the Monterey Peninsula. He died in Monterey on March 25, 1980. The artist was also known as Djey el Djey. Member: Carmel AA. Exh: Calif.-Pacific Int'l Expo (San Diego), 1935; Ebell Club (LA), 1935; Painters & Sculptors of LA, 1935; WPA Artists, De Young Museum, 1939. In: Carmel Valley Village (Immaculate Heart of Mary); Thomas Starr King Jr. High School (LA).
