Elliot Orr was born in Flushing, New York in 1904. He studied at Grand Central Art School with Charles Hawthorne and moved to Provincetown, Massachusetts in 1925. He studied with George Luks in 1927.
Orr was included in the exhibitions "Romantic Painting in America" at the Museum of Modern Art in 1943, and "Painting in the US" at the Carnegie Institute.
In 1977, he moved to Naples, Florida, where he was the subject of a retrospective exhibition held at Harmon-Meek Gallery in Naple (showing 500 of 1232 characters). |
