This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Peter Bissell:

EUGENIE MCEVOY ODELL ALDRICH was born in France in 1879 and died in Woodstock, New York in 1975 at 95 years of age. She had a full life as a painter and sharpshooter (she was called the Annie Oakley of France, and was hired by the Canadian government to train their Mounted Police in the art of sharpshooting.) Eugenie often stated that she was a better shot than Oakley because Oakley used a small shell with a few buckshot, whereas Eugenie always used the single shot. She treasured, until her death, a pair of silver and pearl pistols given to her by the King of Belgium.

Her father was a French artist, and from an early age Eugenie began to paint, and paint she did until the last years of her life. She exhibited and sold her works throughout her life at the Corcoran Gallery in D.C., Society of Independent Artists, Woodstock Artists Association, Salons of Artists, Albany Art Institute, etc.

She was married to the famous cartoonist, J. P. McEvoy, author of the comic strip Jiggs and Maggie and other strips. She specialized in landscapes and still lifes in her earlier work and later developed a newer and very original style which made her a true modernist by any definition.
