Felix Louis Omelich was born in Hungary on Nov. 7, 1896.  Omelich came to the U.S. at an early age and grew up in Wilmington, DE.  By 1920 he was working as a chemist in Los Angeles.  He continued there into the 1930s as a mechanical engineer.  He later settled in the Coachella Valley in southern California.  By 1965 he was living in Cathedral City, CA.  He died in Idyllwild, CA on July 30, 1983.  His forte was desert landscapes with smoke trees.

The following biography was submitted in March of 2006 by Gary Stanley:

Felix Omelich was born in Europe on November 7, 1896.  At an early age he came to the United States and eventually settled in the Coachella Valley of Southern California.  Painting in oils, he is known for his impressionist desert landscapes.

Omelich exhibited widely in Southern California.  In 1965 he was living in Cathedral City, California and was an artist member of the Desert Art Center in Palm Springs.

Felix Omelich died in Idyllwild, California on June 30, 1983.
