| Born in Ballston Springs, NY on March 6, 1825. Otis studied art in New York and was a teacher of drawing and perspective before entering medical school. Upon graduating in 1852, he served as ships surgeon for the Pacific Mail Steamship Company from 1853-59. In 1860 he returned to NYC, established a medical practice, and published Illustrated History of the Panama Railroad which included views of San Francisco from Rincon Point, 1854 and Foundry of the Pacific Mail Steamship Company, Benicia, (showing 500 of 965 characters). |
