| Born in San Francisco, CA on Sept. 25, 1877. After graduating from Polytechnic High School, O'Brien studied art and design at UC Berkeley (1897-98). During a tour of Europe (1911-14) he painted 30 landscapes and 12 figure works; the remainder of his work was done in New England, San Francisco, and Mill Valley, CA.
