This biography from the Archives of AskART:
A native of Junction City Kansas, he has created illustrations and paintings which reflect early 20th century Cubism and Surrealist collage techniques, but for subject matter, he goes back even further.  At a special exhibition of his work at Reece Gallery in New York City, fall 1998, his large-scale collages with oil stains depicted figures from the Italian Renaissance era as well as disembodied modernist figures.

He was educated at the American Academy and the Art Institute of Chicago and was an illustrator early in his career, including doing illustrations for Saturday Evening Post, Fortune, Redbook, and Town and Country.  He had an innovative approach because he incorporated collage, assemblage and printing techniques into his images.  Many of his works are extremely complex, causing the viewer to "read" the painting.  He is a member of the Society of Illustrators.
