| Born in San Francisco, CA on April 10, 1911. Olmsted was educated at Stanford University and then studied with Ralph Stackpole at the CSFA and abroad. He was active in the local art scene until the early 1940s. Abandoning his art career, he then became a scientist at Yale University and a biophysicist at the Cleveland Clinic. He died in Falmouth, MA on Feb. 14, 1990. His great-uncle was Frederick Law Olmsted who laid out Central Park in NYC.
