| Born in Fulton, KS on June 16, 1891. At age two Oliver moved to Monterey, CA where his father established an art supplies-framing shop. He began painting as a child and studied locally with Lester Boronda and William M. Chase. In 1916 he graduated from the art department at Stanford University, had further instruction from Armin Hansen and Clark Hobart, and then went to NYC to study at the ASL under Frank V. DuMond.
