The following biography is from the artist's sons, Matt and Mark O'Meilia:
Jay O'Meilia was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and continues to live there. He was the youngest of four boys born to William and Georgene OMeilia. He began drawing and painting at age nine and knew at that time what he wanted to do with his life. In the first grade, he met Jody Brownlee, who would later become his wife of forty-nine years and mother of his five children.
