Biography from AskART:
| A Los Angeles conceptualist artist, he earned a prestigious reputation but showed his work only rarely during his lifetime and made his living as a graphic artist. From his death in 1993 from Hodgkin's Disease, several major exhibitions have established him a highly independent artist who experimented in many unique ways.
Many of his pieces are latex casts of architectural details from which he creates entire rooms. He was meticulous about detail, and created a self-published catalogue of his 366 pieces of work from 1969 to 1963 and range from early geometric abstract to casts in polyester resin. Many of his works have never been exhibited including some of his metal castings of found objects. |
