Portrait painter. Born in New Haven, CT on June 9, 1808. Osgood was raised in Boston and studied painting there. He married poetess Frances S. Locke in 1835 and then spent four years in Europe furthering his art education. Returning to the U.S., he settled in NYC where he was made an Associate of the National Academy of Design.
Osgood made three trips to California. He first came in spring of 1849 and spent nearly a year in which time he "made his pile" at g (showing 500 of 1201 characters). |
