| Born in Cork, Ireland on April 21, 1868. Upon graduation from Stanislaus College in 1887, O'Brien came to San Francisco where he established a home at 2032 Baker. He studied art locally at the School of Design and continued in Paris with André Lhote. Upon returning to San Francisco, he had a studio at 110 Sutter. Using small brushstrokes and a colorful palette, he painted coastals and landscapes of the San Francisco Bay area. An Impressionist, O'Brien's works were considered avant garde at (showing 500 of 916 characters). |
