William Cheesborough Ostrander was born in New York on March 5, 1858. Ostrander was a pupil of Carl Hecker. While based in NYC, he taught at the Metropolitan Museum. He was active in California during the 1920s and early 1930s with an address in Huntington Park. His work includes etchings of San Francisco and the Monterey Peninsula, and paintings of landscapes and floral still Ilfes.
