| Painter. Born in Hiroshima, Japan on May 13, 1891. Okamoto entered the U.S. Army in Hawaii at the outbreak of WWI. After the war he moved to San Francisco where he was a resident for the rest of his life except during WWII when he was interned in a relocation camp in Utah. While working as a barber, he painted landscapes, still lifes, and figure studies. His oils often have a spiritual or fantasy motif. Okamoto died in San Francisco on Aug. 27, 1963. Member: SFAA.
