This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Known for his paintings and prints of Northwest regional subject matter, he was inspired by a 1946 visit to New York when he saw the non-objective works of Wassily Kandinsky. Three years later, he sent nine of his own non-objective works to Hilla Rebay, Director of the Museum of Non Objective Painting in New York, and she included five of them in an exhibition in 1949 to 1950. |
