This biography from the Archives of AskART:
An illustrator for The New York Times, Alice Armstrong was also a painter and lithographer*.  She lived in New York City.  Her education included Skidmore College, Art Students League* of New York with George Bridgman and George Luks; National Academy of Design* with Charles Hawthorne, and Grand Central School of Art* with Wayman Adams, Harvey Dunn, and Jonas Lie.

Exhibition venues were Anderson Gallery, 1931; National Academy of Design, 1936-38; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts*, 1937-38; Art Institute of Chicago*, 1937-38; World's Fair, New York 1939; Library of Congress, 1945; Florence Tricker Gallery, 1939; Bronx Museum, 1945.; Village Art Center, 1946; and Salons of America*.
