The following biographical information has been provided by William Sellers, art collector:
Wanting to escape the hustle of New York City where he drew black and white portraits for the Wall Street Journal, Allen Polt moved to Taos, New Mexico in 1974 to join what was an already growing arts community. Polt began doing landscapes of local subjects, all of which quickly sold to important collectors. Then in 1976 he began portraiture, with his close attention to detail, light and design. He has painted local New Mexico faces from governors to street people.
