| | A portrait painter of Illinois subjects and of whom little is known, Amanda Powers may be a relative of the well-known Vermont artist, Asahel Powers whose family emigrated west through Ohio to Illinois where Asahel died in 1845. It is known that Amanda was born in Brandon, Vermont and emigrated with her parents to Illinois in the 1840s. |
