| Born in England in 1848. Amelia immigrated to the U.S. about 1880 with her husband, William Palmer. Their first six years were spent in Texas where their daughter, Elsie, was born. While there, Mrs. Palmer painted little souvenir watercolors of the Alamo which she sold to tourists in San Antonio. She also gave lessons in drawing, china painting, piano and voice. The family then moved to Los Angeles and, three years later, they settled in Oakland where she continued teaching until her death on Dec. 27, 1934.
